#NYFW Fashion’s Night Out: Peter Som

By  September 10, 2009

One of our favorite moments during Fashion’s Night Out was at Saks, where we sat down with Peter Som and watched in awe as he created a little sketch for us. Of course, we were so eager to learn more about the charming designer, we took our few minutes with him as an opportunity to ask a few questions! ~Amy Zhang

What are your guilty pleasures?
Bread, chocolate, cheese—basically in that order.

Do you like dressing up for Halloween? Do you know what you’re going to be this year?
I’m not a good Halloween dresser-upper. I always wait until the last minute… There was one year when I bought a big foam thing… I was going to be a big candy. And I ended up not even going to the party because I thought I looked so stupid!

How do you de-stress when you’re preparing for Fashion Week?
Not that this is really out of the ordinary, but I usually watch a good dose of reality TV. That’s when your brain can really turn off. If The Biggest Loser is on, I’ll watch that and eat a lot of ice cream.

And you were a guest judge on The Fashion Show. How did you like that?
It was completely surreal! It was eight hours of filming for a 15-minute segment. I saw everything I wanted to do done differently.
