DESIGNER: Karl Lagerfeld
INSPIRATION: Nordic culture. “A mix of sport and sophistication, no period references,” told Lagerfeld to WWD backstage after his show. And those orchid corsages pinned to the chest of his ensembles? Inspired by Billie Holiday’s version of “Violets for Your Furs.”
TRENDS: Fur hoods, cuffs, snoods, and shawls, military details, boxy silhouettes, rugged boots and booties, patchwork and puzzle prints, wool robe coats, and a mini Karl Lagerfeld figurine hanging on a string.
PALETTE: Black, navy, russet, brown, olive green, heather grey, burnt orange, bubblegum pink.
WHO WAS THERE: Cara Delevinge, Joan Smalls, Georgia May Jagger and Lindsey Wixson appeared on the runway while Caroline de Maigret, Suzy Menkes, Anna dello Russo, Michelle Rodriguez and Leigh Lezark watched the show.
WHO SHOULD WEAR IT: We see this line being front row fashionistas’ saving grace should there be another polar vortex during fashion week next winter. Sundance going celebs should stock up on those fur coats as well!
