On the heels of the Instagram picture of a 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target ad that sent fashion bloggers into a tizzy—is it a Pashli Satchel or isn’t it?—we have our first look at the collection slated to hit Target on September 15th, after five years of courtship from the mass retailer.
“It’s kind of like dating,” Lim told T magazine on the process of creating the collaboration. “It’s been like a five-year courtship, and I wasn’t ready. Finally at this moment we’re like O.K., maybe we’re both mature enough and our expectations are more realistic of what we want from each other.”
What exactly does Lim want from Target? “This is really personal, because growing up, I was a Target customer,” the designer explained. “My parents were always taking me back-to-school shopping, and I would find things but they were not quite right. This was my change to go back and relive this and do it right.”
Totally fine by us! The collection is divided into morning, noon, and night wardrobes in a mostly neutral pallette with a few standout prints like camo, leopard, and floral. He didn’t leave the men out, designing a “grab-and-go-pack” filled with socks, undies and a t-shirt—which undoubtedly, you’ll end up stealing.
The collection of more than 100 pieces hits brick-and-mortar stores and Target.com on September 15th. Prices range from $20 to $300 for everything from undergarments, leather jackets, vinyl handbags, and shoes.
We already know one thing we’re grabbing: the Tashli!
