Is the Finger Trap Test the New Beauty Meter?

Everyone has their own standard of beauty, but it looks like social media is shaking up those standards once again…and not in a good way.

Like the thigh gap and bikini bridge that came before it, we now have the Finger Trap Test. This new beauty test spread like wildfire on China’s equivalent of Facebook and Twitter, Weibo, racking up 200,000 mentions on the social media site. It’s supposedly based on plastic surgeon’s 3.1 ratio where the nose, lips, and chin form a perfect line.

So, how to test yourself? Simply lay your index finger so it touches your nose and chin. If your lips touch your finger, congrats, you pass. If not, you’re actually in good company, as Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Christina Hendricks, and Kate Moss wouldn’t pass the test either, according to Vocativ.

We tried this method ourselves, and the only result was getting lipstick all over our hands (excuse us while we roll our eyes). Just like the other silly social media beauty standards, we’re not going to fret over the results. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the first beholder should be you.
