Any restaurant that offers bacon as its bar snack is my kinda place. So on a recent jaunt to Miami, Prime One Twelve was at the top of our must-try list. We decided to go there one night for cocktails and bacon – duh. There’s something really naughty about reaching for free bacon as if it was pub popcorn or peanuts. It’s such an indulgence. But the salty, fatty deliciousness perfectly complemented the sweetness of the margaritas we were downing and, needless to say, we devoured the greasy slabs in mere seconds. The friendly bartenders didn’t bat an eyelash at the quantity or speed with which we ate the freebies, and they replaced the empty glass in a jiffy… It was like an endless supply. More bacon for the hungry people. I knew I liked this place.
The scene was both upscale and low key. And it was bustling with bronzed Floridians and sun-burned tourists alike. The wait for a table at prime dinner time was over an hour, so we didn’t stay for a post-bacon meal, but our mouths watered as we skimmed the extensive menu. Kobe beef hot dogs, a 48 oz. porterhouse for two, jumbo lump crab-crusted grouper, and fried chicken n’ waffles were among the hunger-inducing highlights. Mmmm… Guess we’ll have to make another trip back to Miami soon.
