When did you fall in love with eyebrows?
I fell in love with makeup and eyebrows in the ’60s. I was fascinated with
Jean Shrimpton, Patty Boyd, and the Rudy Gernreich models at the time. Yardley and Mary Quant makeup was the most popular during this decade.
What was your favorite decade for eyebrows?
The ’40s for sure. Gorgeous brows were definite and streamlined, darker lips were popular, and there was not a lot of need for excess eye makeup during this decade. It was just a glamorous time with lots of lashes. The balance of lip and brow really made a statement.
Which celebrities have you worked with in the past, and do you work with anyone regularly?
Past clients were Courteney Cox, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Marisa Tomei, Penélope Cruz. The new clients are Kate Bosworth and Bryce Dallas Howard.
When brainstorming with a client, what's the most requested look?
“Just make me look fabulous!”
What are your top five beauty tips?
1. Leave your brows alone until you can have them professionally done.
2. Always mix concealer with foundation and a little bit of moisturizer.
3. Fill in mouth with pencil of a desired shade and then swab it off with a Q-tip and add a lip glaze over it.
4. Use a steel comb for mascara; it really makes the lashes look fluffier.
5. Use a chamois-tipped applicator for applying darker shadows in the crease of the eye, because it avoids flaking.
What's the one thing women can do to look younger?
Use a dewy foundation, and less is best. Also, blush over the eye makes you look brighter and alive. And never use a water-based foundation.
