Celebs in Chanel
A pioneer of modern sportswear, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel made waves with her jersey separates and costume jewelry when she opened her luxury house in the 1920s. After her successful reign, the German-born designer Karl Lagerfeld joined Chanel as creative director in 1983. During his tenure, Lagerfeld has put a modern spin on several Chanel classics—including the LBD, the tweed two-piece suit, and the quilted chain-strap purse—which have become favorites of today’s trendsetters.
