Get a Softly Textured Side Bun with TRESemme

Rebecca Minkoff had a show like no other during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a surprise performance from Theophilus London. While the jewel-tone jackets, boyfriend blazers, and bags were instantly on our wish lists, we couldn’t help but covet the effortlessly chic side bun the models were sporting. Luckily, we got the detail on how to achieve this hot fall style from lead hair stylist for the show Jeanie Syfu at the TRESemmé Salon & Lounge in Lincoln Center.

The undone bun added a feminine, yet edgy, touch to the menswear-influenced collection with the matte finish that became popular last year. Syfu started with a deep side part and prepped damp hair with TREsemmé’s 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray from root to tip. After diffusing the hair on high heat, she repeated the process for a wilder, more natural texture. She added definition using a dime-sized amount of the Smooth & Silk Anti-Frizz Secret Crème before gathering the hair into a loose ponytail. She fastened the elastic halfway down the pony with the heavier side of the face framing part loose. She twisted the tail into a messy side bun and pinned it together as she went, pulling in the heavier side of the part into the bun. Lastly, she lightly spritzed the 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray to seal everything in and sent the models off in style.
