Since 1961, Century 21 has been the go-to for New Yorkers looking for great style at an even greater price. When he’s not manning his desk at C magazine or serving some serious style citations on E!’s Fashion Police, George Kotsiopoulos is serving as the department store’s brand ambassador, spreading affordable fashion finds to the masses. He was gracious enough lend Glam advice on planning holiday looks that, if you follow, will have everyone wanting to grab a kiss, whether you’re under the mistletoe or not.

Q: What are some of the biggest trends for holiday?
A: The biggest trends for holiday coincide wonderfully with the top trends for fall including lots of metallics, loads of velvet (pant suits as well), opulent brocades, gorgeous gem tones, and winter white.
Q: What are some of the mistakes that many make for their holiday looks?
A: The biggest mistake is not getting dressed up enough. We not only express holiday cheer through our actions but also by what we’re wearing.  If your invite says “Festive Attire” then that means go all out!
Q: What is the one key piece every girl should have on hand for a seasonal soiree?
A: The one key piece would be a gorgeous cocktail dress that can be dressed up or down. A silk or silk-blend is your best bet since this easier to dress down than a velvet, beaded or metallic dress.
Q: What is your opinion on holiday sweaters?
A: Holiday sweaters are hilarious. I personally wouldn’t wear one but I think it’s great if anyone does. Remember, it’s all about spreading holiday cheer and even if you hate those sweaters, Scrooge couldn’t help but giggle when he sees one.
Q: What are the best grab bag gifts to give and which are the most fun to receive?
A: Lottery tickets or those instant scratch-offs are the best to give and receive because, in a very small way, they represent hope and dreams. Everyone needs a little bit of that!
Q: What is the best solution for recycling an outfit to keep it fresh for multiple events when you’re on a budget?
A: Let’s say we’re talking about a classic black cocktail dress and then it’s all about accessories and layering. Sparkling jewels and a belt will make it super opulent, dress it down with a jewel-toned cardigan, a bejeweled blazer or cardigan and even a colorful fur stole. Lace stockings with glamorous heels create yet another look. You could also go retro with red lips, opera length gloves and a veiled fascinator.
