Get Juiced Up

By  May 13, 2009

I really do consider myself to be pretty healthy. I’m a vegetarian, drink tons of H20 and am somewhat of a gym rat. But honestly, I do enjoy indulging in the occasional adult beverage (or several) which more often that not is followed by a late-night order of mozzarella sticks or some other very unhealthy snack option. Confession: this past Saturday night it was rice pudding. I’ve been feeling a little less than stellar lately which is why I thought this was the perfect time to try the new amazing package being offered by Exhale Spas and the Blueprint Cleanse. The partnership between the two is the perfect way to jump start a mind and body detox session. You get 3 days of the cleanse, 3 complimentary classes at Exhale and a treatment at the spa. The $295 price tag is especially nice when you consider that the value is $420. Now a little bit more on both players…

Blueprint is a cleanse based on drinking nutrient packed fruit and veggie juices for either 1, 3, or 5 days…and eating nothing else. Sounds daunting, but the juices are specially formulated to make sure you’re getting adequate caloric and nutritional needs while flushing toxins out of your bod. Exhale Spas are known for their proprietary Core Fusion classes that mix Pilates, Yoga, stretching, and intense core work. Most recently they launched Core Fusion Sport which adds more weight training and cardio to the mix while keeping the focus on the abs. The mind body spa also offers treatments that range from facials to acupuncture. For more info visit Exhalespa.com.

And how am I feeling on Day 2 of my detox adventure you ask? Surprisingly good! I was terrified that I was going to experience crazy caffeine withdrawal headaches without my daily dose of java, but I’ve been totally fine! Some of the juices are more delish than others but all are at least drinkable. And I really don’t feel physically hungry, it’s more about the mental aspect of noshing on something. There is an approved list of “cheat” foods (cucumber slices anyone?) but I haven’t had to resort to that yet. And I still have enough energy to work out. I took a Core Fusion Open class at Exhale both yesterday and this morning at 7 am. Crazy good. I was skeptical that I could get a workout without wearing sneakers (you do the class in socks) but I am super sore. My bod and muscles have been worked in ways I didn’t know was possible. I’m totally hooked! Tonight I’m scheduled for an Accu-Organ Detox Treatment so stay tuned to hear about that… and if I’ve succumbed to my urge for solid foods!
