Gisele Bündchen is making moves from makeup to fragrance as the newest face of Chanel No. 5.
The model was chosen thanks to her “natural beauty and modern femininity,” according to Women’s Wear Daily. The Brazilian bombshell has partnered with Baz Luhrmann for the ads, which began shooting in the Hamptons’ town of Sagaponack, N.Y. this week with more visuals from the Empire State expected later on. With Luhrmann behind the camera of Nicole Kidman’s 2004 campaign for the iconic fragrance, we expect to see stunning visuals from the pair when the spot hits our TV screens later this year. After all, this was the eye behind Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby, and many more epic eyefuls.
Bündchen also marks a decided turn for the brand, whose previous work with Kidman as well as its first turn with a male lead, Brad Pitt, didn’t see such sparkling reviews. While Marilyn Monroe highlighted the scent’s star status on the fragrance counter, the supermodel is likely to bring it into the modern age.
Regardless, the new campaign will be a sight to behold upon its debut. Congrats, Gisele!
