Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water

Summers in New York City can be brutal. Heat-inducing concrete, indistinguishable scents on the subway, and the lack of central air conditioning makes facing high temperatures all the more unbearable. Unfortunately, with early Friday dismissals, weekend brunches, and swanky rooftop soirees filling up agendas, one is always tasked with looking—and staying—cool.

Avène to the rescue. I haven’t gone all Garance Doré and eliminated the need for tap water from my beauty regime (how else would one bathe?), but I consider the French brand’s Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water mist as the perfect pick-me-up.

I’ll be honest here: I can’t fully articulate the importance of trace elements or low mineral content, as plastered across the back of the bottle, though it speaks to the mist’s effectiveness on sensitive skin. But what I do know is that when I’m sauntering down Sixth Avenue or stepping out of the gym, a spritz or two of this soothes my skin from the harsh sun, rejuvenates me (I’m one of those no-caffeine peeps), and cools me off. No wipe down necessary. Plus, it serves other purposes like soothing the skin after hair removal and comparable irritants.

It’s my portable wind machine. Just like Bey.
