Go Classic Punk: Black and Mesh at the Met

By  May 07, 2013

See-through detailing and an ebony base provide for a killer combination when it comes to alternative style, so it was no surprise that celebs took the perfect pairing to couture heights on the red carpet at the Met Ball. Keeping the evening’s theme in mind, our leading starlets delved into the drama and darkness of sheer cutouts and mesh accents alongside one of the classic colors of punk: black. Miley Cyrus’ fishnet sheath by Marc Jacobs was statement making on its own, but when paired with a head full of spiky platinum hair, it was pure punk. Another (newly) blonde actress that went for the black and nude combo was Anne Hathaway, who surprised onlookers in a racy vintage Valentino slashed gown. The final of the “bold in black” ladies was the usually conservative Allison Williams. Her gorgeous Altuzarra gown featured feminine lace mixed with dramatic mesh piecing, resulting in a stunning combination of pretty and punk. Now it’s time to shake up your wardrobe with some black and sheer chaos. Choose your favorite style and snag a dress that turns these red carpet favorites into reality.
