On August 19, Carine Roitfeld will unveil her latest portfolio for Harper’s Bazaar’s September issue. And it’s iconic.

The glossy’s global fashion director is spotlighting women who are always in fashion: Lady Gaga, Penelope Cruz, Linda Evangelista, Lara Stone, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Mariacarla Boscono, Joan Smalls, Stephanie Seymour, Isabeli Fontana, Laetitia Casta, Carolyn Murphy, Monica Bellucci, Gigi Hadid, Brooke Shields, Eva Herzigova, Iman, Stacey Martin and Laura Hutton.

“This is a portfolio I’ve been dreaming of [...] over my 30 years in the business,” the former editor of French Vogue told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s a huge amount of power they gave me.”

She continued, “I think it’s a genius idea to give one editor the ability to do one story—exactly 17 pages—total freedom for the choice of the photographer, the models, the choice of the clothes. And, the same story, we give to 30 countries at the same time,” Roitfeld said of her role as global fashion director. “It’s the reason why I accepted. It’s not because I wanted to do more stories or it’s not like I wanted any revenge against Conde Nast. It’s just something very interesting that I have never seen before.”

This is the first time in the two years that she’s held the position however, that her portfolio will earn not one but three covers for U.S. newsstands. Lady Gaga will appear on one cover in a pink tweed Chanel jacket, hat, skirt—the Roitfeld cut herself with Karl Lagerfeld’s blessing.  Cruz will appear in another wearing Dior and lastly, Evangelista is styled “wrapped in a twisted bundle of muted Comme des Garcons knits.”

Inside the magazine, Lagerfeld interviews Gaga, asking the singer about her next big fashion “trip.”

“I’ve been recently enjoying looking far and wide for the best vintage fashion I can find,” Gaga answered. “Clothing with a story, a past. Heavy fabrics, jewels, veils. My latest trip is feeling a connection to all women throughout history through fashion. I love wearing clothes knowing that I’m carrying the spirit of previous fashionistas, and living out more of their fantasies, and my own. I believe clothes carry the soul of the designer and the person wearing them forever, so I look for clothes with a soul. Perhaps it’s something only I can see. But I know it’s real.”
