Holiday Style Trend: Navy and Gold

We’ve been seeing indications of a navy and gold trend for awhile now. (For concerned Stanford fans, Cal boasts YALE BLUE and gold, not navy. I repeat-Yale Blue.) Glistening metallics, bronzed ornamentation, and golden brocade and threading were all over the runway during Fashion Week. Stripes and Sequins paired the sparkly shade with dark blue pieces in a round-up back in October, and we instantly loved the two shades side by side. Together, they made for a brilliant combination of smart and sassy.

When we saw Lauren Messiah in her gorgeous holiday ready gold and navy dress, we truly became sold on the color pairing. Boasting the Jacquard Dress by Tibi, similar to the Tibi collection dresses we included in our “Perfect Holiday Party Dress“  post, Lauren is a vision to be seen. The navy jacquard with gold detailing frock is elegant, festive, and a unique alternative to the classic little black dress usually worn to cocktail parties during the holidays. She went for edge by throwing some 90s style leather pants underneath the dress, but you can make a statement in a more subtle way.

Try some unexpected makeup in line with the trend, like a touch of navy eyeliner or painted tips and toes in the shade. Our choice navy blue beauty necessities can be found here. If you’re looking to accent your face with gold instead, we introduce to you Burberry’s latest makeup collection, Vintage Gold, just announced via the brand’s Twitter. So beautiful.
