Holy Smokes! The Hautest Eye Look Returns to the Newsstand

By  October 22, 2013

The smoky eye is—hands down—the most-covetable makeup look, regardless of the season. And though the look was missing on the Fall 2013 runways, the smoldering star has made a triumphant return on the covers of a few magazines.

Most recently, Courtney Love splashed up on Interview Russia with damp tresses and sporting a smoky eye for the monochromatic cover. Though the smudged liner stemmed for the heyday of punk, the look as has also been synonymous with the grunge legend since her days in Hole.

After fronting Chanel’s Les Beiges campaign for the season, Gisele Bündchen turned up the heat for her November Vogue Paris cover. She paired her sultry grey smoky eye with a fresh, dewy face, Veronica Lake waves, and classic #CCertified boucle jacket for a blended modern beauty look.

On the other side of the coin, Coco Rocha gave the look an edgier spin for her cover of L’Officiel’s October issue. Sporting her fiery strands prior to her pixie, her smoky look darts out from the corners of the eye in lieu of the soft haze of Bündchen’s look, which paired well with the bold brocades and fall florals in the spread.

Since the look is coming back in the good graces of rock stars and fashionistas alike, we’re going to jump back on this beauty bandwagon before it disappears again.
