With the start of a new year comes a fresh opportunity to get your life in order. Now is the right time to kick off your organizational efforts, starting with your closet. No matter how small your space is, it’s important to set up your own mini dressing room. If your clothing, shoes, and accessories are accessible, getting dressed will be a breeze. — Beth Becher, B Organized Now
Invest in uniform, sturdy hangers. Stop using those wire hangers from the dry cleaners—they’re ruining your garments! I love huggable hangers. They come in a variety of colors, which is awesome for a shared closet (pink for you and blue for him).
Every closet must have a valet rod. This is what you use for outfit planning: If you visualize your outfit the night before (right down to the accessories), getting ready the day of is much easier.
Stand your purses up. Put them on display like a store would. That way, they’ll remain in good form and you can quickly scan what you have. Use shelf dividers to keep them upright.
Keep off-season items in clear plastic labeled bins. This way, it’ll be easy to switch them out seasonally or pack for a beach trip in the winter.
Make sure to do weekly maintenance. At the end of each week, put all items back where they belong and start off the next week on the right foot. Think organizing is boring? Invest in pretty storage bins and an aesthetically pleasing hamper. It all makes cleaning up a bit more fun.
