Inside the 2013 BAFTA Tea Party

By  January 12, 2013

A spot of tea is just the thing to reinvigorate Hollywood’s A-list in the midst of a jam packed awards weekend. Saturday afternoon, BAFTA hosted its annual Tea Party at the Four Seasons Los Angeles. With Chamomille, Earle Grey, and Jasmine on spout, the crowd of British actors and American admirers mixed and mingled.

Sally Field in Alberta Ferretti fixed herself a mug of tea, while Bradley Cooper forwent the formalities and towed along his own cup of Starbucks iced coffee. Ben Affleck held court with a lavender varietal in hand and Anne Hathaway had a tête–à–tête with her Les Miserables co-stars; Hathaway for her part, spent much of the affair trying to avoid the unwanted flashbulbs of amateur photographers/fans. “People think it’s ok to just take your picture without asking permission,” she said. “I feel like a lion at the zoo.” And the flashbulbs were aflutter on all fronts when Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter made their entrance. Though they were among the last to arrive and the red carpet was over, they still managed to make an impression.

On the fashion front, there was no shortage of bright young things–Jennifer Lawrence in a lace Altuzarra, Sienna Miller in Valentino, and Amanda Seyfried in Vionnet set the style bar high. We can’t wait to see what this crew has in store for us tomorrow night!
