J.Crew came out pinning for 2013!
The retailer with the cult following has fully embraced social media this year, releasing their September Style Guide—AKA their catalog—on Pinterest. Pretty impressive considering the fact that, in 2012, the brand only Tweeted 17 times and posted to Instagram 23 times by the end of December from each account.
“Just for our friends on Pinterest, an exclusive look at our first September Style Guide,” the board labeled Style Guide Sneak Peek read on J.Crew’s page. Pinners have the option of shopping the merchandise before it is available on August 21st.
In addition to the big reveal on Pinterest, a short online film series will debut on August 21st! The first video revolves around monogramming, and fans of the brand can even get in on the action with in-store styling sessions by uploading a picture of themselves to Instagram for a chance to be featured in an upcoming style guide. When New York Fashion Week begins on September 5th, J.Crew will keep a diary of sorts on their Tumblr showing the inner-workings of model castings, hair and makeup run-throughs as well as other show preparations.
Don’t you love the stylish seal of approval fashion seems to have stamped onto social media? Gisele Bundchen broke her H&M campaign on Instagram, Oscar de la Renta previewed his fall campaign on the photo-sharing site and Tumblr seems to be the hot spot for finding new talent. Not to mention Nina Garcia plans to share her view of NYFW through Google Glass.
Looks like the revolution will be digitized—in some form or fashion.
