Monáe freed her wild child tresses and opted for a nude lip and cheery yellow nails (a favorite hue of Glam’s own Channing Hargrove) to pair with her all-white homage to the ‘70s rock ’n’ roll — with a touch of Jimmy Hendrix — for “Dance Apoclayptic.” The CoverGirl isn’t the only one to rock the vintage look as collaborator Erykah Badu sported a similar look in 2011. Monáe jumped at the chance to play dress up for the track as she did in her previous video, “Q.U.E.E.N.” with the singer-songwriter. “It was so cool to play with my look for the video, and to showcase to my fans another side of my style which is constantly evolving, just like me,” she told People.
Don’t worry; she plans to stick to her signature glam look including her personal must have, CoverGirl’s Lip Perfection in Hot. “I love a fresh-faced look, with edgy accents such as highlighting the lips or eyes,” she told the glossy. “I think adding a pop-of color to the lips transforms any look.”
