Jin Soon and Tibi Touch on Texture for Fall Manis

Jin Soon Choi is a mani master, to say the least. In high demand by many designers during Fashion Week, I always look forward to gaining her insight on the next hot nail trend. But this time around, she’s building on her own trend with the help of Tibi’s Amy Smilovic.

The pair collaborated on a series of utilitarian polishes of shimmering shades inspired by Smilovic’s Fall 2013 collection and added a matte topcoat (one of the best we’ve used) to play with layers and texture, a technique that dominated runways back in February. Named after their mineral-like appearance, each rich, jewel tone boasts a 5-free formula with UV filters to fight off the yellowing of color over time. This venture practically makes Smilovic a beauty expert—she dipped into the beauty world earlier this summer with a vivid bag for Birchbox that beauty buffs adored.

I got to test drive the Jin Soon Tibi A La Mode Collection this week in the middle of Tibi’s Soho shop and after a mini-shoot with Choi herself, walked out with a graphic manicure made of Jasper (the shimmering burgundy) and Mica (iridescent silver grey). I have a feelling I’ll be returning to these colors time and again come fall!

All hues will be available in August at Sephora.com for $18 each.
