Jonathan Adler Wants to Make Ankles Hot

By  May 06, 2013

Jonathan Adler is continuing his quest to make the world a better looking place with his designs. Adler’s next project aims to make ankles the new body part du jour with a line of legwear for men and women created with United Legwear Co. “My goal is to make the ankle the new fetish zone,” Adler told Women’s Wear Daily. “I love a classic sock with a little unexpected detail on the ankle. Our socks are chic and classic with a dash of irreverence.”

Adler’s line of socks definitely won’t be boring with combed cotton crew styles for the men, and for the ladies, harlequin, chevron, Greek key patterns with signature motifs such as squirrels, scooters, owls, and devils in orange, red, blue, olive, purple and gray. The socks will join Adler’s accessories line-up of sunglasses, handbags, scarves, wallers and belts. A line of tights is in the works, too!

“I’m obsessed with bold patterns, colors, and icons in the new [sock] collection. Each style says glamor and sophistication, all with a dash of sprezzatura [a certain nonchalance],” Adler said. “I want to whatever I make from pottery, to furniture and accessories–to add style, craft and joy to people’s lives.”

Distribution for holiday 2013 will be aimed at department stores like Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and speciality boutiques, and 26 Jonathan Adler stores in the U.S. and one in London. We can’t wait to add a touch of Adler to our tootsies!
