If a hurricane can’t stop the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, a little snow certainly won’t put a damper on their plans! After “rescuing” the National Guard with their generators during Sandy’s aftermath, the Victoria’s Secret Angels pushed ahead with this year’s fashion show, all while the East Coast’s first Nor’easter conveniently hit the city.
A full day of hair and makeup lead to one of the largest shows in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show history. With a trio of major acts, a bevy of new and high fashion models, and a full roster of experienced Angels, the glittery catwalk was an amazing spectacle. Through six different acts, (Circus, Dangerous Liaisons, Calendar Girls, Pink is Us, Silver Screen Angels, and Angels in Bloom) the audience was transported from a circus tent, complete with the AntiGravity talents including hula hoop dancers, to a larger than life arcade game with a PINK inspired pin ball game.
Between the first two sets, Rihanna took the stage, belting out “Diamonds” in her own version of a Victoria’s Secret outfit, which in actuality was a Miu Miu dress. Following her performance, it was time for Bruno Mars to take the stage and croon out his latest, “Locked Out of Heaven.” When it came to Justin Bieber’s turn on at the mike, the Angels parted ways, leaving an empty platform for his acoustic version of “As Long As You Love Me.” A brief interlude and some stage redecoration a PINK heaven, and while the Biebs crooned, the Pink ladies strutted. One final song by Bruno Mars during the Silver Screen Angels section rounded out an Old Hollywood feel, complete with breathtakingly stunning wings, and a host of silky gowns. Finally, Rihanna returned to her rightful place on the stage, singing “Fresh Out the Runway” while Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, and post baby Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge strutted, before the singer had her own Victoria’s Secret moment and walked the runway, giving off a few (well practiced) kisses to the camera.
