Karen Walker Fall 2014

DESIGNER: Karen Walker

INSPIRATION: Walker’s Fall 2014 collection juxtaposed masculine and military work-ready shapes with ruffles, embroidery, silk, and needlepoint. The silhouettes “remain true to what Walker does best: charming and feminine shapes with a utilitarian and practical sensibility.” Statement bags in a collaboration with handbag designer Benah blazed statements that speak to the modern woman: “Hello and Goodbye”, “Faster Better Stronger”.

TRENDS: Military pants, full skirts, tunics, oversized working coats, graphic prints, sweatshirts, utilitarian shapes.

WHO WAS THERE: Cory Kennedy, Hanneli Mustaparta, Athena Calderone, Leandra Medine (The Man Repeller), the Advanced Style ladies of Karen Walker’s Spring 2013 ad campaign.

PLAYLIST: Totally alternative and edgy jams that had us pumped up. The show started with “The Revolution Will Not Sleep,” by Gil Scott-Heron, and “Waterfall” by Quintron.

WHO SHOULD WEAR IT: Sky Ferreira, Kate Bosworth, Isla Fisher, Olivia Wilde, Alexa Chung.
