In his efforts to take Chanel from having just a “French look,” to one that is “global,” Karl Lagerfeld will show the brand’s 2013-2014 cruise collection next Thursday at the Loewen Cluster on Dempsey Hill. Historically, the location is a former military site where British and Singapore men reported for duty in the early 1970s. Now it’s a persevered heritage site that speaks to the collection. “The island of Singapore basks in the sun all year long–a never-ending summer, the utlimate tropical escape from the winters of the northern or southern hemisphere,” according to a statement announcing the Lagerfeld’s choice.
Though Lagerfeld has shown his Chanel cruise collections in various spots like Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Venice, Saint-Tropez, Cap d’ Anitibes and Versailles, this collection is extra special because it marks the 100th year anniversary of the very first Chanel boutique opening. In celebration of the milestone, the night before the show, Lagerfeld will unveil his latest fashion film starring Keira Knightley as Madame Coco Chanel!
The 2013-2014 Chanel Cruise collection will be broadcast globally on May 8th online at Chanel-News.Chanel.com at 1:30pm. Mark your calendars now, because we’re sure you don’t want to miss this!
