With two Sports Illustrated Swimsuit covers in her portfolio, Kate Upton‘s modeling trajectory was already on the meteoric rise. Now, after many rumors and much speculation, the swimsuit model turned high fashion girl scored her very first Vogue cover!
For the June issue, Upton continues to show off the curves that quickly made her famous. Though she’s sporting a swimsuit, she’s noticeably more covered up for this cover as opposed to her others. While her profile story begins as a bio and an explanation of her rise, it quickly turns into a celebration of her dedication to the industry and her success. “I always had career goals. And I figured out a path I wanted to take to accomplish those goals. If that meant calling the best modeling agency in the world, that’s what it meant,” she explains, chatting about cold-calling IMG in order to score a meeting.
Given her bubbly personality and penchant for viral dancing videos, it’s easy to place Upton in a box, but as it turns out, she holds many of the same character traits (drive, determination, focus) as iconic supermodels we all know on a first name basis: Gisele, Christy, Naomi.
Having achieved her Sports Illustrated goal, Upton’s working on becoming a triple threat. As she expands her acting career, it looks like she’s going to move into fashion design as well. “I would love to have my own lingerie line,” she admitted.
