After seemingly going unnoticed by mainstream Hollywood for most of her thirteen-year career, Kerry Washington is making major moves in not just the entertainment industry but fashion, and now beauty, too. Because it’s levels to this.
We’re still keeping our fingers crossed that People’s best dressed woman in the world will be Lucky magazine’s December cover girl, but it was confirmed the Scandal star will host Saturday Night Live on November 2nd, plus, will join Neutrogena as its latest celebrity brand ambassador and creative consultant.
Can you say best year ever?
The first African American to grace the cover of Vanity Fair since 2005 (and solo, too!), will “go beyond serving as the face of the company’s print and television advertising and extend into product development and marketing initiatives,” Women’s Wear Daily reports.
“Kerry has her pulse on fashion and beauty and we’re eager to hear her input, as well as valuable insights from her fans, in marketing research and development, and with our retail team,” Neutrogena’s general manager Michelle Freyre told WWD.
“For me, the creative consultant role is also fun because I get to bring my fans on this adventure with me,” Washington said. “They know that I’m not telling them I’m passionate about a product because I have to say that contractually. They know I have a voice in the company and that I’m discovering and learning more about skin health all the time and giving the company feedback.”
We can expect to see Washington’s ads for the skincare giant in early 2014 for the launch of Neutrogena’s Visibly Even line’s BB creams and makeup wipes. Making a real difference while balancing it all so gracefully? Washington undoubtedly has it handled.
