Remix Your Closet With KMart’s ‘Money Can’t Buy Style’ Challenge

By  May 07, 2013

The old saying goes that money can’t buy a lot of things: love, happiness, class, and style. That latter theory is being put to the test by the bargain hounds at Kmart in its George Kotsiopoulos-endorsed Money Can’t Buy Style Remix Challenge.

The idea is simple: conjure up your inner stylist and remix a featured Kmart item with clothing you already own. Be it a Jaclyn Smith utility button-up or a geometric-print Attention shirt dress; add your own unique twist to Kmart exclusives for a high-style look. Whether you have an affinity for designer shops along Fifth Avenue or if you scour Brooklyn lanes for vintage wears, there’s always room in your wardrobe—and wallet—for a $15 t-strap sandal or a pair of $20 floral skinnies. Hey—if it’s good enough for Nicki Minaj and Adam Levine, it’s good enough for the gander. And just because the price point is low, doesn’t mean there’s no value in Kmart’s latest offerings. It’s a safer way to keep up with the trends du jour and jazz them up with splurge-worthy staples that your archives already boast. Plus, the extra effort could pay off.

Upload a photo of your best style remix to the Kmart Fashion Facebook page, or tag it on Twitter or Instagram with the #MoneyCantBuyStyle hashtag, to face off with chic contenders. Winners of each challenge will scoop a $500 Kmart gift card and the chance to jet off to New York City for behind-the-scenes access at the Kmart Design Studio. Submit your best looks now through May 13th and wait out May 14-20th voting before a winner is announced on May 31st.
