Laser Cut Leather For The Ladylike Rebel

By  November 14, 2012

Leather is trending this season, lace is hot for the holidays, and now, the two have combined to bring you leather lace, aka laser cut leather. Dainty patterns are cut out of the leather to create an intricate design with the peekaboo effect of lace. The result is girly girl biker-chick.

Designers, from Valentino to Sportmax, are boasting the look in their latest collections and recent runway shows. Catherine Malandrino combined the structured silhouettes of classic American sportswear with the romanticism and femininity of the Victorian era in her S/S 2013 line and used laser cut leather to reiterate her theme of softness and sharpness coming together. Her one shoulder, laser cut and mesh lined white leather dress was especially show stopping, juxtoposing an architectural design with sexy cut outs and a body grazing outline. Check out the look here as well as other up close and personal shots from the show via The Icon Concierge.

For some street style inspiration, Death By Platform’s laser cut faux leather blouse paired with camo pants is a great look to try. We love how her shirt’s cutouts look like doilies. She Finds put together a slide-show of their favorite laser cut leather pieces to try this season. Their first find, a top by Winter Kate, resembles the one Death By Platforms is rocking. How would you incorporate laser cut leather into your look?

For another ladylike leather look, why not try a pleated leather skirt?
