#NYFW: Lela Rose Fall 2011

Lela Rose knows how to create clothes that have a distinct element of fantasy yet still manage to be quite wearable. For Fall 2011, the designer was inspired by the hazy obscured imagery seen in the works of contemporary artist Gerhard Richter. His influence manifested itself in diaphanous fabrics, painterly prints, filmy overlays and mixed textures. Sapphire, smoke, deep green and copper create a rich palette for unique garments in dip dyed silk, filament embroidered mohair, hand-loomed organza, and burnished brocade. Standouts included a metallic floral quilted organza full skirt dress and the haze silk veiled shoulder gown that closed the show. Overall, the collection was as delicious as the homemade cookies Rose left on everyone’s seats!
