#LFW: Harlequin Harlots at PPQ Fall 2011

PPQ is to London Fashion Week what Betsey Johnson is to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York: highly anticipated and eccentrically themed with a front row chock full of fashionable celebrities, and of course the see-and-be-seen social set.

For their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, designers Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker channeled a cool coquettish chick that’s one-part vixen, two-parts kitten, and 100% fiercely fabulous. Slinking down the runway to a booming Nicki Minaj-Lil Kim mash-up, models were crowned with playful ‘cat ear’ top hats and dressed in a dark palette comprised mostly of sooty grays and inky blacks, with pops of purple, tangerine, and yellow here and there.

Romantic ruffle detailing in the form of wrist cuffs and footwear trimmings combined with high hemlines and voluminous sleeves makes for one naughty nostalgic babe (who clearly has a penchant for all things Jacobean). We love a girl who can give a subtle nod to the past while still keeping it current.
