In stark comparison to his vibrant, colorful Fall 2011 collection, the hair and makeup teams wisely played it safe with muted looks that proved to be quite wearable, and incredibly easy to recreate.
The Hair: A Sporty Minimalistic Ponytail
“The look is a nod to the 90′s, very Helmut Lang, with the black headband,” says Paul Hanlon, Frederic Fekkai Lead Stylist. “Jonathan always likes very clean lines, so we’re creating super graphic shiny hair with extensions, cut very blunt at the ends.”
Apply Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip ($23) to your roots to keep flyaways at bay and create a very clean hairline, and Fekkai Coiff Defense Pre-Style Thermal Protectant ($25) to protect while heat-styling with your straightening iron. Secure ponytail a few inches above the nape of the neck. (If you have wispy ends, add extensions to make the ends of the ponytail blunt.) Set with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($21), which also gives your hair a glossy finish. Slip your headband onto your head, a couple of inches off of your hairline.
The Makeup: A Toasty Smoky Eye
Apply Groundwork Paint Pot ($16.50) all around the eyes, and line inside of your waterline with Eye Pencil in Coffee ($13). Sweep a few coats of Zoom Lash Mascara in Zoomblack ($14) through your lashes to intensify the eyes. Use Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation ($29.50) to even your skin tone, and swipe Myth Lipstick ($14.50) across your lips for a nude wash of color. Dab Clear Lipglass ($14.50) all over the eyes and atop of the cheeks to finish.
