Glam, Gears, and Grapes: Winning Wine Country in a BMW

By  November 13, 2014

Glam,-Gears,-and-Grapes--Winning-Wine-Country-in-a-BMW

If Chanel were an animal, Choupette the couture cat would be the feline up front. If Vogue were a haircut, Anna Wintour‘s chic fringed bob would become its representative. If Kimye were a food, some type of high-class caviar would probably best align with their aesthetic. Feel free to think of your own comparisons–it’s quite fun.

As for this round of creativity, I’m wrapping it up with what Glam would be if it were an automobile. The Glam girl, like myself, loves modern luxury and classic fashion with a fresh take, incorporating this type of aesthetic into her life through her savvy style. She’s elegant but practical, refined but with a wild side. The Glam girl is the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

This mega-babe motorcar was my mode of transportation for a tantalizing two day trip to wine country from the San Francisco Bay Area. Along the way I became quite the car connoisseur, a French Laundry believer, and a Napa Valley hot air balloon ride alum. Follow my Instagram Diary for all the glam details on my gear-and-grape themed getaway.

The Nomadic Life: Charleston, South Carolina

By  November 13, 2014

tomboykc-series--charleston

We are everywhere all at once. Whether we like it or not, we find ourselves on the road…a lot. Downside: Living out of a suitcase. Upside: We have hit up some pretty cool pit stops along the way.

Charleston is charming year round, but November is the time to visit to experience that last bit of crisp yet cozy fall weather. The leaves have changed, the holiday season is around the corner and no city knows it quite like Charleston. Filled with seasonal events, this is the perfect destination for a romantic weekend away.

Eat: The Oyster Bar at The Ordinary

It’s not ordinary.

Stay: Two Meeting Street Inn

Undeniably charming and historic. You are in Charleston, after all.

Do: The Holiday Festival of Lights

Starting November 14 James Island County Park transforms into a magical display of lights. Hands down one of Charleston’s greatest traditions.

Self proclaimed nomads, when the girls aren’t traveling for work or buying two of everything (one apiece, you see), you can find them sitting on Lynsey’s couch eating pizza and drinking champagne in men’s pajamas while waxing poetic about the present state of culottes. Discover your next obsession with our Editor’s Pick series, must-have products for your home, wardrobe, makeup bag, and office curated by Glam editors.

Music is daily necessity for me whether it’s on the commute to and from work, writing up the latest Beauty Buzz, or even just singing (badly) in the shower. While my headphones are always packed up and ready to go, laptops on the other hand don’t pump up the volume enough for me.

So when I need to turn my space into a dance party for one (or more), my latest music must has become Bose’s newest speaker. The small size means I can easily pack it into a travel tote to tag along to any venue, especially for any of my upcoming holiday soirees. I can pipe in music via an audio cord or Bluetooth and there’s a voice prompt to ensure the right device gets connected. The sound from speaker is full, natural, and loud once it’s connected and lasts up to eight hours, so the party can go on all night. Plus, it comes in a slew of colors to coordinate with your décor. Time to turn it up to 11 and let the music play! – Valis Vicenty

Tis the Season of Sparkle with Starbucks and Swarovski

By  November 03, 2014

starbucks-swarovski-holiday-cover

Starbucks is getting an extra dose of dazzle this holiday season with some help from Swarovski.

The Austrian crystal brand created a series of tumblers embellished with its signature sparklers to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of Starbucks’s iconic Christmas Blend. Highlights include a blinged out travel mug that arrives in a gift-ready wooden case and a crystal-adorned ceramic tumbler that accompanies a bag of the seasonal coffee. There’s even a shimmering Starbucks cup ornament to set off the rest of your holiday décor.

There’s no need to wait for the Black Friday to get into the spirit, as the collaboration is already available for purchase online. The only catch is the ornament will be the only item available to snap up in-store starting November 12. Consider the coffee-consumer on your shopping list taken care of!

Step Your Instagram Game Up With the Smart Selfie

By  October 27, 2014

take-a-better-selfie

The word “selfie” was added to the Oxford Dictionary in 2013, officially cementing our narcissistic habit in the lexicon and culture forever. There are allegedly over 1 million selfies taken on a daily basis, so it takes effort and ingenuity to come up with ways to earn those likes. Sometimes your arms just aren’t long enough to get a good shot. And it isn’t a selfie if someone else takes it, right? Now you don’t have to worry about some stranger at a tourist hotspot running away with your phone. You can whip the Satechi Smart Selfie Extension Arm Monopod out of your backpack and snap your own shots.

It’s a cool, slender, lightweight device that works for iPhones as well as iOS and Android smartphones, allowing you to take sick selfies that capture your awesomeness as well as the background behind you. It’s perfect for group selfies – usies, if you will – and for those trips to majestic natural sites, think Yosemite or the Grand Canyon. The selfie arm can position your phone to 3 feet away, creating that perfect wide angle shot and holding your phone steady. You snap the photo from the device’s integrated control buttons, and just like that you’ll be the envy of all the other selfie snappers. It’s the perfect holiday gift for the narcissist in your life! Get yourself a Selfie Extension Arm Monopod at Satechi.net and Amazon.com.

The-Nomadic-Life--Carmel,-California

We are everywhere all at once. Whether we like it or not, we find ourselves on the road…a lot. Downside: Living out of a suitcase. Upside: We have hit up some pretty cool pit stops along the way.

Come October, as the weather starts to drop and we switch September shorts for Autumnal sweaters, when traveling we instinctively head to the West Coast. If you are likewise so inclined, we suggest a stop in Carmel, California. Whether you hit up this artsy, dog friendly, culture-filled city for a day trip or a whole weekend it is always a pleaser. Below are our top 3 “must see” stops in between hikes and gallery visits.

Eat: La Bicyclette

They use fresh ingredients and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Do: The Cottage of Sweets

Who doesn’t want a pound of homemade penuche to add to the trunk.

See: 17 Mile Drive

It. Is. Gorgeous. Nuf’ said.
