Look Fly in Bird Inspired Couture

With Thanksgiving less than a week away, ’tis the season of the bird. But while turkey may be tasty, it doesn’t make for the best fashion statement. Parrots on the other hand-we can work with them. These colorful birdies have made an appearance on some haute couture as of late, and we’ve added the pieces to our luxe list. Our first wanted accessory is the Embellished Parrot Clutch by Valentino. The gorgeous beige satin, enchanting gem detailing, and jeweled bird clasp makes the bag perfectly whimsical. Unfortunately at $3,095, it may have to remain solely on our wish list. For another fowl inspired statement piece, we’re dreaming about adding Charlotte Olympia’s $1,595 Birds of Paradise Cage-Heel Sandal to our shoe collection. A sweet little parrot sits inside the “cage” of the heel. When it comes to finding a sophisticated style pump with a bit of fun flair, this is about as good as it gets.

Don’t get all crazy bird lady and wear them together with Camille Tries To Blog’s owl print blouse and sparrow skirt. Interesting pieces should be allowed to shine bright by standing on their own as opposed to having to compete with other loud patterns or noteworthy details. With the shoes, we’d dress in all black and allow the colorful parrot to be the outfit’s pop of color, perhaps adding a red lip to play off the bird’s crimson feathers.
