When HBO Girls creator Lena Dunham let it slip backstage at Miu Miu during Paris Fashion Week, that her character Hannah Horvath, the Greenpoint, Brooklyn-based writer, would undergo a bit of a style overhaul, we wondered how that would affect the other girls’ style on the show.
Though Dunham declared that Horvath’s style would change to include more pants, she didn’t say anything about ball gowns and jewels. So you can imagine our surprise when a Girls promo image began making the rounds online featuring Jessa, Marnie, Hannah and Shoshanna donning dresses that give us a decidedly 1940s feel. Even Adam and Ray got in on the action.
What does this mean? The gang goes to a costume party? The show’s costume designer Jenn Rogien decided to give everyone a new look? We’ll find out for certain with the Oscar-nominated series returns to our lives on January 12th at 10 p.m. with a two-part premiere on HBO.
