ON TUESDAY MORNING, bliss was defined as yoga on the rooftop of The James Hotel alongside Victoria’s Secret Angels Candice Swanepoel and Bregje Heinen. For the launch of the new Body by Victoria bra and fragrance collection and new Love My Body body care collection, editors joined the VS Angels for a decadent start to the day – one that was truly about loving your body.
With a light breeze and talented instruction from Kristin McGee, Glam perfected our sunrise salutations on a bright pink yoga mat welcoming in the day with pink and white striped beach balls languidly floating in the pool. After a bit of balance, meditation, and stretching, it was time for light spa treatments like brow shaping and massages, while checking out the latest and greatest from Victoria’s Secret. Inspired by the feeling of lingerie against skin, the fragrance and beauty collection pairs perfectly with what Candice deems as “one of the most comfortable bras that Victoria’s Secret makes.”
Between yoga and getting pretty, Glam chatted with the lovely Candice about everything from fitness to fashion and photo shoot memories to the Body by Victoria collection.
|Q:||You’ve been part of the VS family for a while – what has been one of your favorite memories?|
|A:||I can’t believe that it’s been since 2007 that I’ve been with [Victoria's Secret.] The best memories are made on swim trips where we work in the day and then have some fun at night. It’s always good to shoot the holiday commercials with Michael Bay. The first commercial that I ever shot was a big memory for me. I’d been traveling like crazy, I’d just shot swim and I flew straight to my first commercial, so I wanted to do a really good job. And something happened with my flight so I arrived on the day and I had to go straight to the set. So, I called my agent, I said, “I don’t mind going straight to the commercial, but I just want a shower.” Because you want to feel like pretty and clean. So I get to the commercial and I’m like, “where’s the shower?” They’re like, “What? What shower?” And I burst into tears…I was like, [cries]. And the hair and makeup team, they got me and they, like, did a little hair wash for me. Now they’re some of my good, good friends – we laugh all the time about it.|
|Q:||And now you’re like family, right?|
|A:||Yeah, I’m like “Do you remember when we met? I was a mess!”|
|Q:||We were lucky enough to practice yoga on the roof. Is yoga part of your regular fitness routine?|
|A:||It’s becoming part of it. I’ve started to do it if we go to swim trips, or whatever. I do a private class. I like to learn the poses to do it properly before I go into a whole bunch of classes, so I’m still learning, but I really enjoy it. It kind of keeps my mind quiet, cause I have to focus and kind of meditate a little bit.|
|Q:|| What’s your usual fitness regime?
|A:||I usually box. I’ve been with the same trainer for so many years and we do a lot of resistance stuff. But just traveling and always working, it’s so physical. Just shooting lingerie and swimwear, we have to really use our bodies so that’s a workout in itself. Especially shooting swim. Recently I’ve been kinda bad, and I’m going on holiday. But I’m always conscious, you know.|
|Q:||What’s your favorite part of the Body By Victoria collection?|
|A:||I’ve loved their collection since it first came out, but I love that they’ve added lace to it and it’s much more feminine and sexy. It is one of the most comfortable bras that Victoria’s Secret makes. It’s not nice to always wear a plain nude bra or black. So it’s nice for someone to make it more feminine, spice it up a bit.|
