Mani Monday: Life’s a Cabaret for OCC

I have another confession to make: One of my first movie obsessions (other than The Little Mermaid) was Bob Fosse’s triumph Cabaret. Though the movie was set in pre-WWII Berlin, the vibrant glittering nightlife of the city served as the backdrop to the Prohibition-inspired collection of nail lacquers from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics called Moderncraft.

The brand tapped into Weimar Berlin’s sense of aesthetic innovation and cultural liberation in the form of six new shades that boast being 5-free, densely pigmented, quick drying, and super long lasting with nifty names drawn from the film, including Man by Man (a pearlescent teal green – similar to the one Liza Minnelli’s characters wears) and Mein Herr (a crème fraiche beige). Another standout  from the collection set to hit shelves August 27th is Lustgarten, a warm ruby red shimmer that sure to heat up the chilly night ahead.

Keeping with the theme, OCC tapped cabaret performer and long-time fan of the brand Calpernia Addams to be the face and nails of the darkly romantic campaign. “[OCC] offer endless possibilities for reinvention in brilliant vegan colors,” she gushed. “I rely on their long-wearing formulas, and I won’t appear in front of an audience or a camera without my OCC makeup.” These deliciously decadent hues will be perfect the transition into the season as well as any cool costumes come Halloween.
