What would Marilyn Monroe wear now if she were a young fashion-forward girl? That was the question that Macy’s asked when creating a collection with LF USA and Authentic Brands Group, simply called “Marilyn Monroe.” The collection will embrace lines that “fit and flatter” with pieces like halter dresses and gingham shirts that cinch and tie at the waist, basically, clothing that the movie star actually did wear. “Marilyn Monroe’s appeal is legendary and Macy’s is excited to launch a collection that draws inspiration from her timeless style,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer.
For the fangirls out there, the collection will feature a cropped t-shirt that features the icon in one of two poses, smiling. To advertise the collection, Macy’s will use iconic photographs, taking modern day Marilyn and setting her against a modern backdrop.
