Make it a Mastrad: Craft Carbonated Cocktails the Purefizz Way

By  August 13, 2013

There’s nothing like raising a glass and being greeted by fizz on the tip of your nose—it’s quite the pleasant surprise. Now, you can harness the power of carbonation at home, in a sleek and sexy package, thanks to Mastrad‘s latest launch.

Mastrad

Earlier this month, the French purveyor of kitchen supplies released Purefizz, a stylish carafe with the CO2 potential to elevate your senses and infuse beverages with an extra kick. The DIY device was built with the at-home mixologist in mind. Though intended to make flavored seltzers and healthy soda options, the Purefizz is perfect for brandishing your bartending skills, with or without alcohol. Simply add ingredients of your choice to the CO2-infused cylinder, tighten the lid, and shake for three servings of a one-of-a-kind thirst quencher. Though the result doesn’t pack as much carbonation as a store-bought drink, it still delivers a satiating spritz.

To get started on your carbonation conquest, settle on a Sparkling Ginseng Iced Tea or try mixologist Rael Petit‘s Berry Wash Smoothie and Fizzy Julep.

Sparkling Ginseng Iced Tea

2 1/2 cups of water
2 teabags of green tea
1 teabag of ginseng tea
1 teabag of mint tea

Steep teabags in boiling water for 10 minutes and let cool. Pour the tea into the Purefizz bottle and close tightly. Insert a Mastrad CO2 cartridge, shake, and let rest for three minutes. Add sugar to taste and ice cubes just before serving.

Berry Wash Smoothie

Orange juice
2 Stevia packets
Iced raspberries
Blackberries
3 dashes of rose water

Combine all ingredients in the Purefizz container and close tightly. Insert a Mastrad CO2 cartridge, shake, and let rest for three minutes before serving.

Fizzy Julep

.75 ounces of honey
2 ounces of Rye whiskey
Half a lime
Mint

Combine all ingredients in the Purefizz container and close tightly. Insert a Mastrad CO2 cartridge, shake, and let rest for three minutes before serving.
