Matthew Williamson Enters the World of Leather Handbags!

By  March 18, 2013

Matthew Williamson is no stranger to the world of handbags, having created clutches and a range of bags for his eponymous line for quite some time now. However, in the interest of expanding, Williamson just launched into the world of leather, and debuted the gorgeous five piece collection of totes, duffles and cross-body bags. Explaining his decision to expand, Williamson said, “Leather has a real durability and functionality,” added Williamson. “It gets better with age, so mixing it with signature elements – a flash of neon, textured materials and rich tapestry jacquards – gives the collection a real balance of utility and style.”

He pulled inspiration from his most recent show, utilizing fabrics from the Fall 2013 collection and mixing in textured grained leather and calf skin. “I wanted to create a collection of leather handbags which would not only reflect the brand’s DNA, but also appeal to a busy cosmopolitan woman,” Williamson told us. “Listening to my clients, I know how busy they are and how much goes on day-to-day – so it was really a reaction to this. I wanted to design a collection which would appeal to their lifestyle.”

Beginning in September, you can scoop up your favorites at the brand’s Bruton Street London flagship store, ranging from about $600-$2,000.
