Few things are sexier than dramatically lined cat-eyes. And while I’ve been using makeup for over a decade, I only recently perfected the art of eyeliner. Now I can’t get enough. This one is perfect for creating either a thick or thin line, and comes with built in sharpener and smudger.
2) ghd IV Mini Styler, $220
They may be a little more time consuming than my usual “wash my hair, dry it, throw it in a bun” routine, but pin curls are so vintage and romantic. This tiny ½” iron looks like a straightener but is the perfect tool for creating perfectly defined waves. Then pull them back or let them loose as you please.
3) Neutrogena MoistureShine Lipstick SPF 20, $9.49
I have never tried a lipstick that is creamier or more moisturizing. Normally I won’t even think of applying lip color without a layer or two of lip balm, but I can totally skip that step with this new product. There’s a range of 20 colors, but I’m going for the Poppy Red to add a little bit of glamour to my normally nude pout!
When mascara simply just isn’t enough, try these falsies that are super voluminous and have a silver diamante band. It’s a quick, easy, and fun way to add some major oomph to your peepers and feel insanely glam.
Every lady needs to carry a fancy compact and this one, studded with crystals in a leopard print, totally fits the bill. I think it’s time to replace my old ninety-nine cent plastic one with something a little more upscale. Plus I’ll need it to touch-up my red pucker.
Quite frankly, I would take any pair of Louboutins! I can not tell you how much I want to strut my stuff on the city sidewalks flashing that classic red sole with every step. These are super classic, but with a flirty peep-toe and single strap still totally translate into a vintage vibe.
7) Burlesque and the Art of the Teese by Dita Von Teese, $39.95
I kind of really want to be her. I can’t think of a better modern day icon of Old Hollywood. Her book is all about glamour and seduction, two things I think every lady should be well-versed in. I want it for my coffee table!
8) Drinks at Nurse Bettie, 106 Norfolk St. between Rivington and Delancy
This L.E.S Manhattan bar named after legendary Bette Page is adorned with retro images of all the classic pin-ups from the 1940s. Themed but not in an overly tacky or kitschy way. The staff is super friendly and the drinks to die for. Be forewarned, the mojitos go down way too easily.
