The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Melissa Gorga has taken on yet another role: jewelry designer. The reality star, author, singer and dancer has ventured into the world of accessories with a 24-piece collection that will debut on HSN on July 28. A slender Gorga donned a flattering Marciano tan and black dress and, of course, a hefty selection of items from her line when she promoted the new collection at Hey Doll Showroom in NYC on Wednesday. “I wanted bold statement pieces that would pop,” she said, “things that I knew were going to stand out, but weren’t going to be too much on either side.”
Gorga, who doesn’t use a stylist and often puts her girlfriends’ outfits together, explained that it only made sense for her to start a jewelry line, since she has “always been able to put things together easily, whether it’s decorating a house or decorating people.” Though she struggled to choose a favorite piece in the collection, she narrowed it down to two: “I love the Multi Row Chain necklace and then there’s the horn, which I call my ‘chameleon horn,’ because you can wear it with anything. The horn is actually called the ‘Maloik’ in Italian and it’s supposed to ward off evil and protect you from people who are envious.” See? You never know what you can learn in Jersey.
The jewels range from $20-$100, with the Multi Row Chain necklace being the most expensive. “I wanted it to be affordable but still make a statement. Trust me, it wasn’t easy to stay in that price range and still maintain quality.” Affordable and chic? What’s not to love?
