Met Gala 2013: Marion Cotillard’s Curls Get a Dose of Deconstructed Glamor

Before Marion Cotillard even hit the red carpet, GLAM got the inside scoop on her hair style for the evening from celebrity stylist Robert Vetica. After spending years working with the Oscar winner, he knew exactly how to adapt the punk theme to her personal style by focusing on a deconstructed route. “It was sort of a retro grunge look,” he revealed. “We have thousands of pictures of inspiration and we all go through it. And in the end we tweak [the original idea] together.”

He started the look by applying the René Furterer Volumea Volumizing foam for added texture and to protect strands from the heat of the blow dryer. When completely dry, Vetica made a low side part, tightly pulling the left side straight back to pin in place. He created soft waves on the outer area of the right section with a ½-inch curling iron before he pin curled the top of her head for a wave that framed the right side of her face. With a good blast of the Vegetal Finishing Spray, he finished the look by brushing the curls out and pinning them to the left section with a touch of the Glossing Spray.
