Carolina Herrera has a thing for first ladies. On Monday, Herrera showed her Fall 2014 collection inspired by Jacqueline Onassis and just one day later, our current First Lady, Michelle Obama, wore the designer as she welcomed French President Francois Hollande with President Obama at Tuesday night’s State Dinner.
The gown, described in a press release as a “black hand-sewn beaded embroidery appliquè scallop-edged top over a liberty blue silk faille corset with a wide black velvet belt detail and liberty blue silk faille invented pleat long skirt and train.”
She paired the dress with blue statement earrings, her new-ish bold brows and flowing hair. This should quiet her critics, she wore an American designer’s liberty blue dress during New York Fashion Week.
