MUST-HAVE TIGHTS FOR FALL
By Cara Chronis
August 20, 2012
Sheer legwear can make for great transition pieces—without sweating or freezing—as fall weather turns cold and winter turns warm. Plus, sheer hosiery looks extra chic for evenings out. Another great transition pair: leggings. You can wear ’em with open-toe pumps or cute ballet flats. Got a dress that’s just a little too short? Adding a pair of leggings (which tend to be thicker than footed tights) will cover your behind. Patterned and textured tights are a great way to boost the excitement factor of your go-to solid-color skirt or dress. We’re loving the limited-edition geometric-inspired tights by Sculptz Inc. and ready-to-wear designer Dana Maxx. These luxe patterned tights are available at Silkies.com for $18. Colored tights are another imaginative way to add a pop to your outfit. We tend to get stuck in the all-black tights routine, but there are so many delightful colors you could be wearing! Our picks for this fall are eggplant, peacock, and British green. Not quite ready to tackle the brights? Start with your three favorite neutral colors—we love brown, gray, navy blue, and crème. When you’re ready to move onto brightly hued pairs, start with the tights and build the rest of your look around the color you’ve chosen.
