Guess who’s coming to New York City, and Hudson Yards specifically?
The Dallas-based department store (credited with giving Coco Chanel her start in America) is slated to open a flagship store in Hudson Yards, the future home of New York Fashion Week.
The New York Post is reporting that the luxury retailer is in talks with Related Cos to anchor the 1 million-square-foot retailer complex expected to open in 2018. The company has already landed deals with Time Warner and Coach but this would be a first for Neiman Marcus. The 107-year-old brand doesn’t have a location in New York City, though it does own the iconic Bergdorf Goodman.
“They never wanted to come and have their own stores compete with Bergdorf’s,” Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of retail leasing and sales at Prudential Douglas Elliman told The Post. “There’s a much bigger pie now. People don’t see it as cannibalizing anymore.”
Looks like Hudson Yards is gearing up to become the ultimate fashion destination in New York City.
