Decorating tips often overlap into the realm of fashion and beauty so we aren’t surprised that J.C. Penney tapped Jonathan Alder—who is looking to make a foray into fashion with a line of socks—and Pantone Universe to be among their incredible group of design partners for the JCP’s home collections.
Further connecting fashion and decorating? Nina Garcia, J.C. Penney’s resident style voice, was on hand as the brand launched it’s new collections from Sir Terence Conran, Michael Graves, Martha Stewart, Bodum, Ordning & Reda and of course, Jonathan Alder and Pantone Universe.
Surprisingly though, Marie Claire’s style director and Project Runway judge doesn’t decorate! “I’m not a big decorator,” she told us at the J.C. Penney’s home launch Thursday. “I like to play with it, and now thankfully, I can afford to change it up.” Change it up how exactly? Garcia offered this advice: “How to translate all those fashion trends into your home? There’s a lot of graphics, there’s a lot of prints in fashion, that I think we’re seeing in the home front as well.”
You heard it here: prints and graphics are huge on the home front!
