#NYFW Badgley Mischka Fall 2011
By Emily Popp
February 15, 2011
The Fall 2011 Badgley Mischka show opened up with a background screen image of a dark street alley…not exactly a place you’d expect to find these glittering confections. The first handful of gowns in brilliant emerald and magenta illuminated the runway, tricking us into thinking it was cocktail hour and not 10:15 in the morning. The looks that followed–a jet black tulle and taffeta dress and a noir satin chiffon gown–celebrated a dark, smoky beauty, and each model exuded an air of mystery. Even amidst all the back. the collection was not too moody-broody and still felt joyful. Overall, Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s offerings were heavy on drama from the first look to the last—and that’s why we love them so!
