#NYFW Christian Siriano Spring 2012

The popular Project Runway alum never ceases to please his fans. This season Christian Siriano was inspired by the textures of the deep sea, an influence that was apparent in his tulle coral reef patterns and the barnacle appliqués that adorned numerous dresses and skirts. Siriano played with proportion in masterfully sculpting voluminous organza, ostrich, and crepe.

An aquatic theme prevailed, with looks informed by Katharine Hepburn’s “Summertime,” in which Siriano set out to capture the effortless voyage of his heroine and a gorgeous coral colored dress worn in the Venice scene. From there on, he asked, “What compliments this color?” The beautiful palette of chartreuse, coral, orange and even a tame oyster reminds us of the power of femininity and the desire to sail away!
