#NYFW Fall 2012: Sultry and Seductive at Jenny Packham

By  February 15, 2012

Film Noir took a leap from the silver screen to the runway for Jenny Packham’s Fall 2012 show on Monday. Pulling cues from old Hollywood starlets like Barbara Stanwyck, the collection was a both dark and sparkling homage with plunging necklines and silhouettes that hugged curves. To keep the vintage feel alive, lead makeup artist Laura Mercier’s Talia Shobrook created a seductive look that “evoked the mystery of the era, but translated it for the modern day woman.”

Shobrook looked to make the models embrace their pallor and give them a haunting air of mysteryby starting with the upcoming Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer across the cheekbones before applying the Silk Crème Foundation. She added a dewy effect to the skin by applying Primer Radiance to the nose, chic and cheekbones. “Pale, dewy skin and hollowed cheekbones evocative of the Film Noir period were the foundations of the look,” she explained.

She shaped a seductive eye using the Luster Eye Colour in Starfruit across the brow bone and the Luster Eye Colour in Dusk on the lid and sweeping it out to the outer corner of the eye and under the lower lash line. Shobrook added an accent to the lid with Baked Eye Colour in Violet Sky. She lined everything up with the Khol Eye Pencil in Brown Copper and blended it out with the Sequin Eye Colour in Tiger’s Eye.

She then mixed the upcoming Crème Smooth Lip Colours in Cocoa and Merlot to outline the lipsm and filled in the rest with the Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush. She finished the look with a touch of shine from the Lip Plumper in Pink Pearl to the center of the lip. Whether it’s to a classic murder mystery party or a romantic rendezvous, the look is perfect for an adventurous evening out.
